Prevention is all the measures taken to prevent a danger, a risk, or an accident.
In terms of road prevention, the Ministry of the Interior and its various services ensure the mission and implementation.
Road accidents can have several origins: driver fault, vehicle failure, weather conditions, etc.
For example, calling while driving constitutes a significant risk for the driver and other users.
Recent studies have shown that the driver's vigilance and attention are reduced by 30 to 70% by the use of a mobile phone, including with the hands-free kit.

The National Interministerial Road Safety Observatory (ONISR) estimated that 3,267 people lost their lives on the roads of mainland France in 2022, compared to 2,944 in 2021 (+11.00%), and 3,244 in 2019 (+0.7% ), year of reference.
Men are still more injured than women and the situation is still worrying for young people aged 18-24, and worsens for those aged 35-44 and 65-74.
The share of men in road deaths increases to 78% (compared to 77.9% in 2021 and 17.3% in 2019).
84 >% of people presumed responsible for fatal accidents are men.

Road safety, always closer to users, informs us of risks and developments;
of regulations.
Anthology of regulations that accompany this new year:
- offenses noted by video surveillance
- The employer required to reveal the identity of an employee in violation
- Training to switch from automatic to manual transmission
- Modified “ecological” bonus/penalty
Alcohol is one of the leading causes of death on the road:
* Alcohol is responsible for 30% of road deaths;
* the risk of being responsible for a fatal accident is multiplied by 27.8 among drunk drivers.
* Accidents involving alcohol are more serious than others: the number of people killed per 100 injured; hospitalized is 23 compared to 10 for accidents without alcohol.
Even in small doses, alcohol acts directly on the brain. All the more reason not to not ignore its effects.
From 0.50 g/l the risks are real:
* The visual field is narrowed;
* Perception relief, depth and distances is modified;
* Sensitivity to glare is greater
* Vigilance and resistance to fatigue decrease;
* Coordination of movements is disrupted;
* The disinhibiting effect of alcohol leads the driver to undervalue risks and overestimating one's capabilities
